With age and underlying disease like such as high blood pressure, arteries become narrow, and smooth muscle relaxation decreases, diminishing the amount of blood entering the Penis. Vascular diseases affect blood vessels. They lower blood flow to organs such as the heart, brain, and kidneys. If they cut blood flow to the penis, they can cause erectile dysfunction. The major principle of erection is the storage of blood in the penis, so if the vein cannot store blood very well for a certain period of time, you lose the erection. It’s also linked to diabetes, Peyronie’s disease

3. Hormonal Imbalance

Low level of the male hormone, testosterone is more commonly linked to lowered sex drive, rather than impotence itself. Only about 2% of cases of impotence are caused by hormonal imbalance. Hormone abnormalities can cause erectile dysfunctions but rarely. These include increased prolactin, a hormone made by the pituitary gland. They also include steroid abuse by bodybuilders, too much or too little thyroid hormone, and hormones used to treat prostate cancer.

”Prescriptions drugs not only suppress symptoms, but they also cause the body to retain its foul poison”

6. Chronic Tobacco use

Smoking has been shown to affect arterial blood flow and may also affect the arteries in the penis, reducing the blood flows necessary to maintain an erection.

7. Diabetes

Both Forms of Diabetes, type I (Insulin-dependent), and types II (Insulin-independent) are common causes of impotence: men who have diabetes are 3 times more likely to have impotence than other men. Diabetes can cause changes in blood flow through narrowing of the arteries, or damage to nerve endings in the penis.

When a man becomes sexually aroused, a chemical called nitric oxide is released into his bloodstream. This nitric oxide tells the arteries and the muscles in the penis to relax, which allows more blood to flow into the penis. This gives the man an erection.

When their blood sugar levels get too high, less nitric oxide is produced. This can mean that there is not enough blood flowing into the penis to get or keep an erection. Low levels of nitric oxide are often found in those with diabetes.
